Valerie L. (Schill) Harkless won the Miss Berks County title in March 1994 at Pennsylvania's first Marathon/Runner-up Program, which awarded two local titles.  At Miss Pennsylvania, she was awarded the Women's Issue Essay Award for her views regarding the corporate "glass ceiling" and the Community Service Award for her platform, "Educate to Integrate: A Community & Work Force Integration Program for People with Disabilities."  She was also named as 2nd runner-up to Miss Pennsylvania.  Valerie presented a vocal performance of "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from Phantom of the Opera.   Valerie also held the title of Miss Clarion County 1995.  She is a C.P.A. and is currently employed as an Advanced Senior Accountant with Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP.  Valerie wed James Michael Harkless in September 1997 and gave birth to their son, Joshua James, on June 30, 2003.
