Brittany Kuperavage currently holds the title of Miss Greater Berks County 2009.  During the week of June 21-27, Brittany represented the Greater Berks County area at the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Brittany performed her talent, a lyrical dance to “I Run for Life” by breast cancer survivor,  Melissa Etheridge.  Adding to her platform of Cancer Awareness, Brittany danced in memory of all those who have lost their battles with cancer, and in honor of all the strong men and women continuing their battles today.   Although she did not come home with the crown, she was honored to compete on behalf of the area she calls home.  Miss Pennsylvania was an experience of a lifetime, with many memories she will never forget. 

             Brittany is currently a junior at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.  She is a Biology major with a minor in Communications.  Brittany is actively involved on campus as a Peer Mentor, Peer Tutor, Biology lab assistant, and a member of the Biology Club and CAC (Colleges Against Cancer).  Brittany was a member of the L.A. Dance Theatre for 15 years, and continued her love of dancing in college by joining and leading, EMOTION, Elizabethtown College’s dance club.  She is a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society,  and  the  Alpha  Lamda  Delta  Ho nor   Society.  Brittany was  recently  awarded  the  Dr.

Charles  Weaver  Biological  Scholarship.   She  has  continually  made  the  Dean’s  List  since her arrival at Elizabethtown and currently maintains a 3.9 GPA. 

Promoting her platform of Cancer Awareness has had a major impact on Brittany’s life.  As a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society, Brittany has had the opportunity to speak at various events, such as the Elizabethtown College and Kutztown University Relay for Life ceremonies.  Brittany continues to volunteer her time as a driver for the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program.  Through this program Brittany transports cancer patients to their various medical appointments, while offering patients a smile and friendly face.  Brittany uses her title of Miss Greater Berks County to speak about the importance of cancer awareness, and to encourage involvement and early prevention among people of all ages.

The Children’s Miracle Network is the national platform of the Miss America Organization.  Brittany has personally raised over $1200 in this past year alone for CMN.  She has spent numerous hours volunteering at CMN events at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center locate in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  She has made visits to both St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, in Philadelphia, brightening the day of seriously ill children.  Brittany has also volunteered her time to benefit the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, the Jerry Lewis/Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

When not concentrating on her studies at Elizabethtown, Brittany lives with her family in Cumbola, Pennsylvania.  She is the daughter of Bernard and Kimberly Kuperavage, and has two younger sisters, Brooke and Brianna.  Her family also enjoys the company of their pet miniature dachshund, Charlie.  Brittany’s future plans include graduating from Elizabethtown with her Bachelor of Science Degree and going on to pursue a career in medicine.
