In addition to her personal platform, Miss America will also serve as a goodwill ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network. This national platform will provide Miss America titleholder competitors the opportunity to not only raise funds and awareness for her personal platform but also for Children’s Miracle Network thus maximizing her exposure and impact during her year of service.
What does this mean to you on the local level? Service, one of the four points of the crown, has always been important to contestants striving for the opportunity to be Miss America. To Build on this, contestants competing at any level in the Miss America system will now be required to raise a minimum of $100 to support Children’s Miracle Network and the Miss America Scholarship Fund. This is NOT an entrance fee, but rather a service requirement, by the Miss America Organization, Inc., to participate in Miss America sponsored pageants. The Miss America Organization, Inc. service requirement, will not only continue the Miss America Organization’s legacy of service and scholarship assistance, but also raise funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network.

You have ideas and plans and goals—so much to offer the world—but how? Each year young women just like you choose to compete in the Miss America system. That’s right! Many of them are just like you—yet they know that the Miss America Organization is the single largest provider of scholarships for young women in the world.
Whether you want to become a doctor or a dancer, an accountant or an architect, the Miss America Organization has an opportunity that will help bring you closer to achieving your goals. To become Miss America, a contestant must first win a local competition (like the Miss Greater Berks - Miss Greater Reading Pageant) and then compete to represent her state, a process requiring a personal commitment, hard work and talent. A woman may compete as a state titleholder only once at the national Miss America competition. More than twelve thousand young women participate each year in the local and state events, culminating in the selection of 53 national finalists who vie for the Miss America title in Las Vegas. Tens of thousands of volunteers organize the local and state preliminary competitions, promoting community involvement throughout the United States and furthering scholarship and achievement among young women in their communities. Be female
Be at least seventeen (17) years of age AND at least a senior in high school to compete in the current pageant season. Contestant can be no older than twenty-four (24) years of age by December 31, 2010.
Be a citizen of the United States of America
Live, work, or attend school in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for at least the past six months.
Be single and never have been married, with no dependents
Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.
Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.
Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities.
Meet all other Miss America Organization eligibility requirements.
